Default Breaking Ability is Gone

I had to move my 1993 grand caravan 3.3 back a few feet from where it was parked the other day and decided to put it in neutral and roll it backwards with the ignition off. Didnt realize my wifes car was behind me and I instinctively slammed on the brakes.

The next time I start my van the brakes are rock solid with a 5% braking ability (next to none). Also, the "ABS" & "Brakes" light are constantly lit up.

The breaking system has an accumulator type system which I am not too familiar with.

If any of this sounds familiar to anyone and can give me some guidance, it would be much appreciated.

Ryan

oh boy, you're in for a big expense. that abs system is junk to say the least there is a recall on some of it's components but the dealers will do what ever song and dance as to not pay out because of the huge expense.

It looks like brake fluid spewed out from under the reservior caps which is now plump full. But I'm not seeing anything that might be a broken line...I will have to check tomorrow morning when I have better light.

I too found a safety recall on the ABS system, but when I enter my VIN# on the dodge website, it claims there are no unresolved recall notices. I assume the previous owners resolved these issues.

I should also mention that about 3 months prior to this happening, every time I would depress the brake pedal it seemed as though the ABS attempted to engage and would make a 3 second buzzing noise.

Thanks
Ryan

yep,I go back to my statement, this system is horrid and very expensive to fix. It may have had the recall done but that doesn't gaurantee it' actually fixed. a Dodge dealer can run the vin to see if it had been serviced for brakes.
