Howdy, I am brand new to this forum and hope I can get some assistance. For several months my 2000 van has had an issue with the instrument panel. The ABS light would come on and then the instrument panel would stop working. All the dials would drop and the digital indicators would go out and my control panel on the roof with the temp, DTE etc goes out. For a while my "Fonzy" solution worked.. I would pound my fist on the top-center of the dash and the ABS light would go out and everything started working. No the pounding does no good.

I had a diagnostic check today that gave me code P1698 which says: Definition: ECM Fault-No CCD messages from TCM.
Explanation: Failed ECM
Probable cause: 1. Open CCD bus line 2. Failed TCM

Anyone run into this issue? The whole punding thing makes me think it is a loose wire?

do a search for instrument cluster solder joint failure. this topic is about as common as transmission related problems with minivans.
