I have a 2002 Caravan 2.4l w/ 103000 miles. Heres the prob when I stop at a stop sign the trans seens to kick out of drive, when I slowly accelerate it's fine but If I accelerate normal it kinda jams into gear.
I have checked the fluid it's a little dirty but can still see through it. Has some smell but not real bad. There is no check engine light on.

 

so have the fluid/filter changed. dropping the pan and inspecting will greatly help determine the next course of action

Do you know if you have a 3 speed transmission or a 4 speed? And before anyone else chimes in about the 2002 don't have a 3speed. They do.The last year for the 3 speed was 2002,2003 went to the 4 speed for all engines. I know this, because i can access the dealers web site.

 

it has the 3 speed trans

 

so drop the pan, check for debris, change filter, new fluid and report back on any improvements.

3speed transmissions are known for sticky governers which control shifting.
