Default 2000 Caravan Lift Gate Handle Plastic Nut

Any body have any ideas on how to remove the plastic nut that holds the outside handle to the lift gate. I have everything removed except for this. I am afraid I am going to twist it in half and break if off below the lift gate sheet metal.

I've never been able to get them off without destroying them. it sucks to say the least. Why are you removing the handle?

The linkage from the handle that connects into the latch has come loose from the handle. It is hanging there but I can tell it is not connected. When i lift up on the handle the linkage does not move. I cannot see how it is connected so i was taken everything apart to try and reconnect it. We use the lift gate regularly.

The linkage also pulled apart from the connection on the latch so I will have to reconnect it somehow.

I've managed to pop that back on without pulling the handle. I assume you have the interior cover off, you can feel around in there and push the rod back on the arm. it just snaps on.

Thanks Yes I have tried but will try again. Does the arm just pop into a notch or something on the handle. I assumed it was bolted to it somehow.

the threaded appearance of the rod is why you're thinking you need a nut, but actually it snaps into a metal clip on the arm.

Thanks Sappro

Yes you are correct I saw the threaded link and assumed it was bolted. So just to be clear it snaps into both places, the latch arm at the bottom of the lift gate and the handle at the top. Correct??

without going out to the yard and taking one apart, I think the rod is snapped in on both ends the threaded end is wha pops off frequently and it attaches to the outside handle. the other end is attached to the latch release arm. look again and if you're still stuck, re post question.
