Default 2005 Dodge GC SXT - Sound Diagnosis

I have a 2005 DGC SXT and have been hearing an odd "grinding" sound recently that I'd appreciate feedback on.

I notice the sound when I'm stopped but in gear. It seems to fade away if put in park. It's coming from the front end.

It also cycles "on" and "off." So it will kick on for a few seconds and then stop. Kick on and then stop. As soon as I accelerate the sound stops.

I don't know if "grinding" is the best way to describe the sound. It's almost just a loud pulsating sound (wah wah wah wah).

A friend suggested that it might be the water pump going bad? Does that sound right?

Any input is most appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to DF Could be the a/c or the water pump. Try removing the fan belt and see if the noise/sound is gone.
