Post How To Test Purge Solenoid

Anyone know how to check the Purge Solenoid with a scanner? I read another post that said that you should not be able to blow or suck air through the solenoid. I tried that test and it seems OK, but, I was wondering if there was another way to check this part.

Thanks.

Jake

well, if you apply a vacuum to the intake manifold side of the valve, it will hold vacuum. then when you apply an electrical current to the valve it will open, dumping vacuum.

I personally use my scanner and have the computer control the application of the valve to verify that the PCM has control of this component
