Trans question: No drive in any gear
I have a 97 grand caravan with 157k...a 3.3 engine with a 3 speed tranny..
This morning I had no drive is any gear. Just sat there -- didn't engage in any gear, forward or reverse. After about a minute or two, all gears "came back" and it ran just fine.
After warming it up, I checked the tranny fluid and it's clean and at the correct level. Had a tranny service done at 95k (about 5 years ago).
Can someone help me figure out what's wrong with this rig?
Thanks
Jeff

first it doesn't have a 3 speed.
2nd. there's something wrong internally in the trans.
loss of prime. probably need new pump bushing, some and a seal kit.
worst case, you'll just need another rebuild or a different trans.

Jeff if the fluid level is correct, then you may want to have the transmission controler ck for codes. A loss of prime, like sapporo had said will cause the transmission not to move. Also a 3.3L engine comes with a 4 speed 41TE transmission.
