Default How to pull TCM codes - 02 Caravan

2002 Dodge Caravan 3.3L V6 Flexfuel 4 spd auto 130K – no previous powertrain work or problems until now. Seems to be transmission. All 4 gears work, never gone into limp mode. In first gear only (98% of the time), the tranny “bucks” every couple seconds, almost like clockwork whether taking off easy or more aggressive or just sitting in gear not moving. While it is similar to an engine misfire, it is the tranny. Once shifting into second or higher, it is smooth. Occasionally there is a detectable buck or skip in the higher gears, but since first gear is more stout, it is the most noticeable. Clearly, the issue is first gear. During the split second it is bucking in first gear while driving away, it seems the revs want to increase. I pulled PCM code P0700 (my Innova OBD2 reader) but I don’t know how to pull TCM codes. How do I get those? Do I need a better scan tool and just connect to the same under dash connector or do I connect to the TCM directly somehow? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to DF
You need a scanner that can read the other modules too.

So, if I get the EQUUS INNOVA 3140 Scanner Unit and plug it into the same underdash connector, would I get the codes from the TCM that I cannot get with a smaller cheaper code reader?

the Equus doesn't do obd I which your 1995 is.

I'm selling my SnapOn MT2500 which does OBD1 and OBD2, engines, trans, abs, body, etc. Also works on Ford, GM, Imports, etc. $500 for the whole thing with shipping if in US 48 states. Reason I'm selling is I bought a New Modis scanner (which I paid $3600)

I am having same exact problem with the identical van that the original poster describe. If the person is still active on the forum, I would appreciate if he could share what the resolution was.

Thanks.
