I am about to order and replace the regulator/motor on both sides. Driver side is stuck up and passenger is half way down. (2002)

All info I can gather says windows must be down before the door panel comes off, is this true?

If so how to get the windows down?

Thanks
May need to be down slightly but not all the way down just to access the bolts that secure it to the regulator tracks. There may even be access holes in the inner door structure to give you access to the window bolts with the window all the way up. If anything it needs to be up to be out of the way while removing the window regulator. Once I get the door trim panel and vapor barrier off I remove the bolts securing the window to the regulator track and tape the window to the upper window/door frame so it's out of the way.
A trick to try until you get there. Hold the switch up or down as you slam the door. This will sometimes bring the motor back from the dead for a while. Make sure you verify power is at the motor connector with the switch engaged. Be a shame to needlessly change the regulator assembly.

I just took my driver's door apart for a motor problem and I can't see how the window position would make any difference in getting the panel off.
