I have a 2001 Caravan. While driving recently my gas gauge read on the red bar halfway point for the last quarter of the tank, where usually the gas light comes on. Luckily I was pulling into the gas station at this point because it started putting like it was running out of gas, I was unsure of why but I filled it up and it ran like normal, no problems. Then the gas gauge started not reading right, like I would put $30 or so in and it would only go up a quarter of a tank-ish. Then, a couple days ago it started putting again like it was running out of gas and it was on the last quarter of a tank bar. Can one have any idea what is going on? Is it the gas gauge its self or the fuel pump? Not very knowledgeable about cars, but hoping its an easy fix as it makes me very nervous to drive my little ones around in it. Thanks for any help.

The problem could the float on the fuel pump module. I would have a shop look at the problem. With van being almost 10 years old,i would replace the fuel pump module. It does come with a new float too.
