Default Noise from engine

Hello, I have a 2006 grand caravan sxt 3.8L with 57,000kms on it. When the engine is running and put in gear it sounds like there is a cricket noise coming from the engine. I took it to a dealer and they thought it was the serpentine belt and they replaced it. I took it home and the noise was still there. The noise doesn't get louder as you accelerate or goes away at all while driving. I was wondering what the noise could be? Thanks.

It's coming from the center of the engine. I don't think it would be the belt tensioner, because they just put on the new serpentine belt the other day, and it was making the noise before I went to the dealer.

It still could be the tensioner if they didn't bother to check it.

Oh. Okay. Is there any other possibilities?

If you remove the fan belt, and start the engine without a belt. And see if the noise is still there. If its gone, the problem is something that is belt driven.

Thanks for your help guys. I took it to the dealer today and they replaced the alternator. They said the bushing were rubbing. Since we had to pay labour on the serpentine belt replacement, they gave us back that price since they couldn't fix it the first time.
