Unhappy !997 Dodge Caravan Sport

I went to run errands this morning and the instrument panel would not work. Gauges sat on 0; no odometer; service engine soon and ABS light on. I have changed all the fuses both below the dash and under the hood. I am not car savvy at all. If you could break down, in kindergarten terms, what else it could possibly be so I am not spending a ton of money on a mechanic (b/c I haven't had too much luck with good mechanics) I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

Very common in that year to have issues with the printed circuit board on the rear of the cluster. Usually solder joints break causing back connections. You can replace it or try and repair it if you want. The new ones are not cheap and they have to be calibrated with a scan tool when they are installed. I suppose used is always an option but I would still have it calibrated if it were mine.

Default What a quick short term fix!

I read on another site that you can hit the dashboard and the "missed connection" connected. And guess what it worked! I will try and solder the faulty connection once I can get the Instrament Panel taken apart! Hope that this helps someone else! I had to search all day to find answers.

Just so you know, it's probably more than one bad joint so when you find a bad one, keep looking.
