Very common in that year to have issues with the printed circuit board on the rear of the cluster. Usually solder joints break causing back connections. You can replace it or try and repair it if you want. The new ones are not cheap and they have to be calibrated with a scan tool when they are installed. I suppose used is always an option but I would still have it calibrated if it were mine.

I read on another site that you can hit the dashboard and the "missed connection" connected. And guess what it worked! I will try and solder the faulty connection once I can get the Instrament Panel taken apart! Hope that this helps someone else! I had to search all day to find answers.
