I cannot get the key to turn in my wifes 2003 dodge grand caravan. The column is not locked( I can turn the wheels with wheel). I cannot get ti to lock either. Any suggestions and is there a way to get in neutral with the key out?

 

Hi , sounds like your shifter is not in the park position ?? Try shifting out & then back into park firmly ? my thoughts Lovvorn

 

Disconnect the transmission cable at the trans and move the shift lever by hand. Spray WD40 in the lock cylinder and put the key in the cylinder and tap with a small hammer. And try to turn. If this works, replace the lock cylinder.

 

with the key out, you can turn the wheel full lock to lock (approx 3 full turns) and the there is no attempt at locking of the wheel?

take off column covers and lubricate locking mechanism

 

There is no column lock on a 2003 minivan so don't bother trying to lube it. Master tech has the right idea. Tap on the end of the key to get it to turn, then it can be removed and replaced with a new one.
