Trans slip from 2nd -3rd when cold or if a/c is on.
I have a 2003 Dodge Caravan SE 3.3L Flex with 112,000 miles.
In the summer, I noticed that if you were at a stoplight/sign and accelerated the transmission would slip between 2nd and 3rd gear. This only happened if the a/c was on and the compressor cycled on at the same time. If it was cycled off or if the a/c was off the trans would not slip at all.
Now, in the winter with the a/c off (defroster off too) the trans is intermittently slipping between 2nd and 3rd. It seems to do this when the vehicle is cold and the problem usually goes away when the vehicle is at normal operating temperature, though it has happened when warm, but it does not happen every time.
The trans fluid and filter has been changed on a regular basis. The fluid is still red and smells normal and is at the proper level.
I read another post where someone experienced a slip and someone replied and suggested to replace the input and output speed sensors on the trans.
Does anyone know if this could be the cure? The sensors only cost $20 each, so if anyone could confirm that this may cure the problem, I will definitely replace the sensors.
Also, if these sensors are bad, wouldn't they trip the check engine light? Currently, there are no "idiot" lights illuminated on the dash.

Replacing the sensor will not cure the problem,Because you said the ck engine lite was not on.You need to have the transmission CVI's checked and have a clutch test done all forward and reverse gears. You may need just a seal kit, solenoid pack or even a valve body.But you need to have the transmission scan first and post your findings.
