Yes it is as simple as lining up the marks. I'm no master technician but I under stand that the crank turns 2x the speed of the cam. For every 2 revolutions of the crank the cam only turns once. The cam turns at ½ speed of the crank. So when the crank comes down on the intake stroke from TDC to BDC that's 1 stroke or 180° the Intake valve is open. In that 1 intake stroke the cam turned only ¼ turn or 90°. Now when the piston goes up on the compression stroke, the crank turns another 180° or ½ turn while the cam only turns 90° or ¼ turn. Lets review so far. We have acheived 1 full turn on the crank (360° of rotation) and the cam has turned ½ of that 180° of rotation. The piston is back to TDC but the valves are closed at compression. However at this point the mark on the cam pulley will be off ½ a turn or off 180°. But we're NOT done with all 4 strokes, we've only covered 2. So if you put all 3 marks in the correct reference point that I posted on the pictures, then rotate the crank shaft 2 FULL revolutions (720°) all 3 marks will be lined back up where you started. The timing is DONE, you were sucessful in postitioning all 3 pulleys and the engine will run!!!!!

I understand that completely. I am not concerned with the cams. There is no timing belt on the engine right now. I can make as many complete turns of the crankshaft as you want, the cams don't move...because there is no belt.

I can turn the crankshaft 2 complete turns and the marks on the crankshaft will align twice, but only one can be correct.

Here is what i want to do.Line the marks up and put the belt on and release the tensioner. Leaving the covers off and no coolant in the motor. Try starting the engine. And post on what happen.

Is it me beating my head against the wall or is there a language issue?

No language barrier, just a failure to communicate.

Say I line up all 3 marks. You say everything is timed right and I am good to go.

Now, say I turn the crankshaft one more complete turn, the crankshaft marks line up again, The piston is TDC on another stroke, but the cams are still in the original position, because there is no belt installed.

How can the piston STILL be in the right position if I turned the crankshaft, but the cams are still in the original position?

yep, you're right. I doubt there's anyone intellegent enough on here to answer that question. You're probably going to have to take it to a professional mechanic that can figure it out for you.

The number 1 and number 6 piston line up on TDC. When the Cams are lined up, it doesn't care if the piston is number 6 or number 1. Thats why there is timing marks only line up one way. Did you put the timing belt on a try to start the engine? If you haven't, put it on and start the engine. Last chance. Because i'm done
