96 GC keyless entry doesn't work
Just bought this '96 GC es. Power locks all work when I use the key in the driver's door. It works with the switch on the inside of the driver's door. The doors will also lock once I start driving. However, the key FOB does not work at all (No lock, no unlock, no panic). When I got the van the FOB did not have batteries in it. I put fresh batteries in the FOB but the FOB is still quite dead.
Does anyone know what could be the problem or where I could get information on how to trouble shoot the system. Could it be that someone removed the fuse because the wireless control was acting up?

You need to take it to a dealer so they can check to make sure that the FOB if for that vehicle. Think to yourself "why didn't they even have batteries" What I'd do if thats not an option, go to a junkyard, find a van with the key fobs, take off the RKE module and fobs, install the set in your van and all will be fine.
Yes, good suggestion. I suspect there was a good reason for no batteries in the fob. I bought the vehicle from the original owner. He gave me only 1 fob with two (master and valet) keys attached to it. He might have taken the battery out to prevent inadvertant activation while in his pocket. Maybe the dog ate it. I don't really need the fob to work. Just don't want it to malfunction and lock me out or start the horn honking.
