Default 01 Grand Caravan Problem help!

I have the same problem basically with my 01 Grand caravan. Initially it had an intermittent problem where it would dump black smoke and run missing like it was only firing on 2 cylinders. Afterward its just continuous. We have changed the engine and same thing. We can only get it to start when we charge around the wires on the coil and it runs with a terrible miss backfires and cuts off. We checked the wires in the harness around the area of the exhaust near the coil and found the sticked together but only the insulation, none shorted. Please Help, any suggestion?

Welcome to DF
With engine as bad that it is,Did the check engine lite come on? and what is the code or codes. You could have a bad map sensor or the injectors are staying on.The wire harness that has been a problem, you need to open the harness up and inspect.

Thanks for your reply Master tech.No codes were showing but at on time we saw 1684 which i think refers to the battery.Other wise the EMC was cleared and showed no codes. We even tried changing the emc.I will try to recheck the harness.

Unhappy

Good day again master tech. I tried checking the harness again but saw nothing so I tried changing it but was only able to find a harness for a Regular Caravan 01 not a grand. All of the plugs matched up except one or 2 like the ABS and some transmission plugs. It still did not start, just rolling. Does the slight difference in the harness make a difference?
