RPM surging
Ok, today I swapped out my TPS and it seems to still pulse. However I will drive it for a bit more and see if its just me or if it surges, I do believe it is surging. I will post back when I notice for sure.
I took mine to a mechanic who hook his computer up and drove it around. He said he didn't see anything in the results. I'm going to bring it back to him to look at after i get back from a trip. He said its shouldn't be anything to worry about, at least for now.
Thats what the dealer said here. Unless there is a light on then its hard to pin point the problem. I noticed my girlfriends 2005 does it too, however hersdoesnt have a rpm guage but you can hear it doing it. Maybe its a fault with some of the dodges. I am at a loss.
I took the van in to a Dodge dealership to have the PCM flashed. I have done everything else to the van. They took it for a test drive he hooked up a "brain and a box" as he called it, and it acted up bad, he watched the shift points and even wiped the van and tried to see if that worked. There were no codes. so we went back to the garage and after about 20 minutes he came back to me and said there is a flash for the engine PCM but not the transmission. HOWEVER he did not do any flash because the Torque Converter is gone in the van. The diagnostic computer stopped him at torque converter with all the issues it did. So we are replacing the torque converter under powertrain warranty. I will keep a updated post when work is done.
Ok, So the new torque converter is in and it seems to have resloved the issue. It would have cost me approx $1000 however since the powertrain is still covered it didnt cost me a penny. I dropped it off and got a loaner and picked it up a day and a half later. I was handed the keys and away i went. I will be watching it however to make sure that it was infact the torque converter. thanks to all who replied to the post.
I will be taking it back to the shop with probably a print out of this forum to get them to try a lot of things, but vacation comes first so we will see if she can go another 3000km lol. And the powertrain warranty on my van is 100,000 kms
So the surging is doing like triple pulses now even when accelerating lightly, its a new torque converter and they said they did the flash to it as well. I recently went to the wand wash bay and it has an automatic undercarriage wash, when it hit the engine the van decided to start sputtering and almost didnt make it into the bay but was resolved once I shifted into park, any ideas on this as well?
I am having the same issue in my 2007 Grand Caravan. I checked the way to get codes, and now it only says "Done". 2 years ago it was the PCV valve and the codes feature told me what it was. So I will go with the plugs and wires, its about time for a tune up anyway.
