2002 Dodge Caravan problems
We have a 4cyl 2002 dodge caravan with about 160,000 miles on it. The engine light came on last summer..but I never paid attention to it since it was still running okay. Back in October, I noticed the van running a little strange, like when I would pick up speed from being stopped, it would take a while to shift between 40 and 50mph. Then winter comes. And lately its been acting up worse...like even after letting it warm up before leaving...when I come to a stop or yield...as it slows down just before stopping...it vibrates really bad, and sounds like its stuck and can't downshift. This is an automatic. Then once I stop..it shifts I guess and sounds okay. Then when we take off again..it will sound like a manual shift car taking off in second or third gear from a stopped position. then if I give it gas..it shifts or whatever and speeds up just fine. It will do this over and over for about 20 minutes until the engine gets warm enough. We live in south texas..so there is no snow or anything frigid for weeks on end. Any ideas????

You need to have the van checked for codes, both the pcm and the trans module. I would say the transmission is going into limp in, thats if you have a 41TE trans. Do you know which transmission you have?
