96 Caravan No Spark
My father has a 96 Caravan, 2.4L, that decided to die in the Walmart parking lot yesterday. He doesn't have a code reader so I don't know if it's throwing any or not. He did realize that the engine wasn't producing any spark so he replaced the coil pack. With the new coil pack he now gets spark on the #3 cylinder, but only that one. I did some searching and saw that the PCM can be the culprit in some of these cases, but would it necessarily be the problem with this one, considering he went from no spark to some spark by replacing the coil pack? Fuel isn't the problem as the fuel pump was replaced last year and when he pulls the plugs they have gas on them. The plugs are only a couple of months old and the wires were replaced last year, too. I don't know anything about caravans, I'm just trying to help him search for a solution. I've also seen people mention a crank sensor...is this the crankshaft position sensor or something else? He does have a multi-meter and can use that thing blindfolded, if anyone has any suggestions on things to check. Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated!!!
