Last evening i added a bottle of heat suspecting condensation in fuel system due to ruff starting and no idle. Then it ran for about 8 seconds smooth then quit. 40 minutes later it ran for 2 seconds smooth and quits. That is where i am now. Can someone help pin point the problem? I plan to have it towed to my fathers home tomorrow to work on it, I currently suspect a weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter but i am not sure. Any advice is much appreciated.....

 

How much gas you got in ur tank?
Have someone crank cycle the Key ON and Off, And crank the engine, grab a small hammer and wack under the Gas Tank while he's playing with the key.

 

Sounds like a clear cut fuel system problem but if you poke around the system and find nothing consider the security system if equiped. Yup, a big coinsidence but your start/die symptoms are classic. Many times the SKIM module has to be reprogramed or replaced.

 

I brought vehichle to the dealer and they said the MAP sensor went bad and that caused the spark plugs to foul out. Also, they are doing a fuel system cleaning process to rid the carbon that was built up. Estimated cost is around $585.00 total.

 

Another coincidence. Yup, MAP sensors will do that and many times won't show a code. The $585 sounds a tad steep but not far from what I would expect from a dealer. Hope this is the end of it.

 

The final price for labor & MAP sensor, platinum plugs, and fuel injection cleaning process tallied $553.00. Runs like a "top"!!
