Default 2005 Power lift gate issues

On my 2005 Grand Caravan, I started to have issues with my lift gate.

First I could not open it from the outside, even if I made sure it was unlocked with remote or from the drivers door. It would open if I used the Power gate, just not manually from outside.

Now sometimes when I get in the van, the little icon is lit on the dash saying the back door is open , and when I turn the key on, I can hear the door lock? make the sound like it is "sucking" the door shut/locking it. And tonight when I hit the unlock from the drivers door it made the esame sound, and when I shut the door it did it too.

And..........it keeps getting better. This morning the battery was dead. I came home and boosted it for my wife, and tonight I checked it out after dark and the interior lights, (just the ones in the back were on) and the battery was dead again. ( we had the keys in the ignition, which should not make a difference)

It was after this that I figured out the close the drivers door, hear the tailgate lock thing..............

So, do I have more than one problem here, or is it all back door wiring related?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.................

( I just replaced a water pump on Mon, so not looking to spend a lot more money )

The rear lift gate latch assy maybe keeping the lights on.Remove the rear panel and disconnect the latch assy.
