My Caravan died on the freeway. Sputtered as i went for a pass and died. Figured it was the fuel pump as it was loud and I had a stutter every once and a while.Chassing the stutter I replaced plugs,wires, distributor, coil, fuel filter, airfilter, last summer. stutter got better but still showed up every once and a while. Well since towing it home I changed to fuel pump,It cranks fine but still no fuel.Then I found there was no spark. Self Diagnosed it was a bad ASD (auto shutdown) relay. well I cant find it or which one of the 4 relays that it is. tested each with a new relay one at a time. still no spark or fuel. then Diagnosed it was the Photo Optical sensor (pickup Coil?) Replaced that just now still no spark or fuel. Is there something Im missing. or can tell me where the ASD really is. Ive checked all fuses. Its a cargo caravan and its awesome. I dig it so please help me fix this lil rig.

Timmy ck the fuseable links around the washer bottle, You will need to remove the washer bottle to ck the links. You can use a 12 volt test lite or pull on each fuseable link, but don't pull to hard.

 

Good call. I knew of the fuseable links, but I couldn't find them in the manual. The white one seems stretchy. How Do I test with a meter? Also what could have caused it to break the link. could it have been my fuel pump going out? I did smell something kinda burning for about 4 days before it died. I hope this is my "quick fix" that ive been looking for.

 

A fuse link is just like a fuse. When too much current goes thru a fuse or fuse link, the material melts.

A meter can be used to check continuity in Ohm setting (power off) or in voltage setting with power on.

A high current draw is what blows a fuse/fuse link or circuit breaker. A bad fuel pump can easily be the cause of this failure

 

Master tech you sir, are on it! I swapped out that 5 dollar fuse link and the moto van is up and running! I appreciate your help ,and I owe you one. Ill Cheers to you tomorrow on St Pattys day.
