Default 2005 Caravan - T&C remote transponder key - programming

Hi,

When I bought my van I was given the two transponder keys without the remote unit for opening side doors and locking / unlocking the car. I have the two remotes now but they are from another T&C vehicle (same year). Is it possible to erase the information from these keys and reprogram them to use on my vehicle? Sorry but I have heard conflicting information and the service manual (procedure) at some points indicates that if the key is from another vehicle it will exit the programming code or fail. Can DRBIII erase that?
The brand new keys are very expensive and on top of that the dealer asks $50 to program.
As always your comments are appreciated.

Thanks

A key that has been programmed to another vehicle cannot be reprogrammed. It is now good for only the vehicle it was programmed for. When a key is programmed, information from the key is programmed to the module in the car and information from the module is programmed into the key. Once the key accepts programming it is done, one shot deal. Sorry.

I understand the process but still was wandering if the key itself can somehow be erased from the information of previous vehicle. Considered that these parts are not cheap that's stupid but looking from the security perspective it makes sense. I wonder what kind of memory /trick they use to permanently lock that information. I've seen websites selling replacement chips for the repotes. I guess these were blank chips for the fobs to be reused / refurbished.

The man answered your question: NO once a key has been programmed it can NEVER be reprogramed for another vehicle!!!

But if you don't believe the expert that works at a dealer, then try it yourself. Maybe you can figure out a trick then pass that information on. This could be your chance to contribute to a solution instead of asking for the answers.

I'm not saying I don't believe because "all stars in the sky" point in the same direction. I do electronics for living and was just wonder what "locking" mechanism they use that the information cannot be erased. Just consider a memory stick. Well NO means NO. Thanks for your comments anyway.

An electronics guru should be able to figure this out.
