Default Fog light install - update VIN with sales code ?

Hello all,
I was planning to purchase the Mopar Fog light kit (pn 82212066) to install myself on my 2010 Grand Caravan. I downloaded the instructions and all looks pretty simple except for the last page.

It states: "Vehicle VIN must be updated with the sale code of the added accessory in order to enable system functionality. Using the DealerCONNECT website and a StarSCAN diaganistic tool, complete the procedure below: "

This implies to me that I can't do the Fog light install myself because a dealer website is needed to enable the accessory. Does anyone know if this is the case or will the fog lights work fine without this step ?

Thanks
Bec

You can still do the install,But you will need to have the dealer to enable the added system.

Correct. Fog lamps have to be added to the vehicle's build configuration. If it doesn't know it has them, it won't work them.

Hey Bec,
Where did you find a place to download the instructions for this? I just bought my wife a 2011 and forgot to make sure it had foglamps [dangit!] as OEM. I'm gonna get the lamp kit with plans to install myself.

I took at look at the vehicle and it doesn't look too complicated minus replacing the headlight selector switch. How did your installation go?
