The front band adjustment is outside the transmission case next to the transmission dip stick tube, The rear band adjustment is inside the transmission. The kick down adjustment is at the outside of the transmission. It is either a cable or a linkage.

Default Dodge says NO band adjustment

Just got the master mechanic at the dealership on the phone.

He swears the bands are NOT adjustable on that 3 speed year.

But the owners manual says adjust at 100,000 miles!

Who the hell is right?

Called him back: He is dumbfounded and wants me to bring it in to have a look...

This is out of the 2000 minivan Dealership Manual. You may want to call the Master Mechanic back and tell him or her, that you now have the information you neded. I am also dodge Master Tech.
BAND ADJUSTMENT
KICKDOWN BAND (FRONT)
The kickdown band adjusting screw is located on left side (top front) of the transaxle case.

Loosen locknut and back off nut approximately five turns. Test adjusting screw for free turning in the transaxle case.
Using wrench, tighten adjusting screw to 8 N·m (72 in. lbs.)
Back off adjusting screw the number of turns listed in Specifications. Hold adjusting screw in this position and tighten locknut to 47 N·m (35ft. lbs.)
LOW/REVERSE BAND (REAR)
To adjust low-reverse band, proceed as follows:

Loosen and back off locknut approximately 5 turns.
Using an inch-pound torque wrench, tighten adjusting screw to 5 N·m (41 in. lbs.) true torque.
Back off adjusting screw the number of turns listed under Specifications. This chart is located at the rear of this section.
Tighten locknut to 14 N·m (10 ft. lbs.)

I wish you worked at my dealership.

Pretty scary if these master Dodge mechanics have never adjusted bands on the 3 speed tranny.

If you have the 'backoff' specs, can you post? Thanks much.

Update: tranny working fine simply by changing filter and using +4 synthetic fluid.

I believe that my mechanic used the wrong +3 or worse fluid about 12000 miles ago when changing fluid.

All shifts seem normal, except that it was a slow fix - took about a weeks driving after fluid change.

Taking it in for a recall clockspring - will ask about band adjustment.
