Wiring diagram says its an 8 gage wire with a fuseable link going up to the alternator.

BTW - the starter uses a case ground, no negative terminal. The other terminal is power for the solenoid from the starter relay.

Thank you

Is it popsible that the wire starts at the positive terminal in a blue color
and comes to the alternator in a red color ?? Any idea where the fuseable link would be?

Thanks again

Me again

Sorry, i'm new in this forum have to find my way arround.

Cougar, what you are saying is that the heavy wire goes from the alternator to the positive starter terminal and from there to the positive terminal on the battery . Is that right ?
Thank you

The second wire, the wire in question, from your "positive connection" on the starter as I said goes to the alternator.

Here's where some confusion starts as to the color. From the starter connection to the fuseable link the wire is labeled "NCA". I don't know what that means. A label next to the fuseable link says 3.3/3.8 ltr engine - Lt Blue. The wire from the fuseable link to the alternator is labeled red. Since I don't know what "NCA" means I can't say for sure what color the wire should be at the starter. You say it's blue. I've got a hunch there is a misprint there but can't say for sure. Clear as mud??? You can verify what is what using an ohmeter.

Where is the fuseable link? I can only guess and say in the wire bundle near the alternator.

I take it you have charging/starting problems. What's up?

No, not at all, well kind of. Just bought the van from my neighbor. Suddenly, a week later in town the thing acted up like crazy,
--- dashboard completly lit up, -- whole thing started jumping like a goat,
and stopped running. After a couple of tries everyhing all right, made it home. Hurray !!!!
Next day - not starting.???
Dashboard lights ok. Turning the key i could hear the selenoid. Great !!
Test light out --- no power on the positive starter terminal ???
Now the search started. I could trace the power from the battery to the second branch but after this nothing. Looked a little closer and found the protective harness cover ( kind of netting ) partly sliced open an tugged away.
( earlier electrical problem ????? ) Started to unwrap the electrical tape covering the bundeld wires and after approx. 2 " the green disease !!
The heavy red cable was sliced open about 1.5 " and the copper was completely missing only green powder and some black burned metal(copper) . I fixed it , van is starting fine now.

What i don't know is if this could have caused the problems stated above.

Thank you for your time
