Default '07 Caravan - wheel stud replacement - problems

I have an 07 Grand Caravan that I am trying to replace the rear wheel stud on. The stud is gone, the problem is, I cannot get the hub off so that I can insert the stud through the back. I even rented a tool to get it off, but that tool did not seem to make sense for me, as it was pushing in the middle while pulling (counteractive in my opinion). I wonder if maybe I was given the wrong tool. does anyone have any suggestions? i have used wd40, spent a lot of time trying to pry it off and I am out of ideas.

any suggestions?

ps - yes, the 4 bolts have been removed from the back.

Thanks.

The problem is, the hub needs to be taken off before you can install the studs. thats the problem I am having. its stuck on there.

I never remove the hub to replace a stud. Trust us, it can be done. Otherwise, to remove the hubs when they are stuck, you need to turn the base where it bolts to the axle back and forth with a hammer and punch or an air hammer. You turn it as far as it will go clockwise and then back counterclockwise and after a couple of times it will fall right out.

Even when there's a backing plate in the way to accomodate a drum brake set within the rotor, ie rear disc brakes?

Yep, you can get it in. Looks like there isn't enough room but there is.

I'm in the same boat...doesn't appear to be enough room to get the new stud in place on the front wheel...2005 GC. Are you absolutely sure? Maybe Part Source gave me the wrong stud (too long)?

Welcome to DF
If you don't think you have enough room, Just back out the 3 or 4 bolts out of the hub bearing.
