Just installed a good used 2003 trans into my 96 GC 3.3 New fluid, new filter, new front pump seal and cooler flush with lubeguard flush. Poured 1 quart of oil into the TC and then filled the trans up with another 7 qts.

Anyhow...started the van and manually selected each gear a couple times. Then moved the van around the driveway slowly. No unusual noises. Drove the van and it drives and shifts good. After about 2-3 miles its working really good. Checked and topped off the fluid.Normal smooth shifts with lock up in 3rd and 4th.

Do I need to perform a "learn" procedure that I've read about?? Or am I good to go??

 

No you don't. 96 and newer the TCM would retain the settings already learned even if the battery was disconnected for an extended period. So if its working good then its ready to drive.
