Alternator pulley
Has anyone bought alternator, say from advance/autozone etc. without that long nose pulley that exists in the van and had success (no vibration problems)?
I just had my alternator replaced. The mechanic used a typical parts store replacement and there is a noticeable vibration at idle. He kind of blew me off until I showed him this.

I'm going to guess that the OEM alternator will be the only one using the correct clutch. I looked at Rock Auto and there is no indication what type of pulley their different ones have and as far as I know, you can't tell by looking at it.

The genuine OE part is availalbe in the aftermarket. You can now even purchase it from NAPA.
Check out this video on youtube. Gates did a very nice job on it.
