Exclamation Greetings from ALASKA! About to take long trip!

Howdy all, just picked up a 02 Grand Caravan Sport with 141,000 on her w/new tranny.

Runs fine other then a knocking sound that comes then go's on the upper left side of motor (more-so-where pullys are). The knock is more prevelent when cold and sometimes go's away. I'm pretty sure It's NOT in the motor itself. Seems to come from the upper rear?????

Any ideas?

it's the 3.3

front or back? Could be a water pump.

sounds like upper rear....kinda clunks and clanks. And when I took it into the shop it was warm and of course didn't make a peep!!!!!

Don't think it's the ac pump...might be near ps pump tho....maybe a pully.

Also....the lower pully (crank/harmonic balance has a very slight wobble but no noise) could that eventully lead to bigger problems?

thanks much in advace....I'm compleatly mopar ignorant other then my 1941 Plymouth.

p.s. the only reason I brought this problem up was in hopes it was a standard caravan problem like sway bar bushings and driver window motors.

the 2 most common issues with a 2002 van are the a/c compressor locking up and the water pump crapping out. usually when a water pump bearing goes, it makes noise all the time but it is on the back near the top.

Thanks all!

I've been all over this thing and have to chalk it up to a strange noise that can't be diagnosed!

I'll be swapping out the harmonic balancer and water pump anyway when I replace the struts and brakes, already did the sway bar bushings and links.

Kinda dig'n a whole new type of wrench'n on this rig. Spark plugs changed out without all the hassle I thought would be involved. And MAN did they need it, 3/4's of 'em had the diode burned down to the ceramic!

Now I have to figure out why rear heater don't blow.

How to replace the wire loom roller at the bottom of passanger slide'n door and fix drivers side window that won't roll up after ya roll it down (lots of fun slam'n door over and over in a parking lot try'n to get it to roll back up with finger on switch, kids scream'n in the back and everyone in parking lot looking at you like you have lost your mind) Good times!

So....If you have any advice on theses issues go ahead and lay 'em on me!

Oh...wish us luck as we are head'n on a 800 mile round trip up here in the last frontier....and snows in the forcast...YEEEEE HAWWWWW!

The sliding door wiring harness is pretty easy. Just have to pull back the b-pillar trim and the rest is straight forward. the window is the motor and regulator assembly, kind of a pain but doable. The rear blower will take some checking out. Let me see if I can throw down a wiring diagram to help you out.
