Default Transmission Question

99 Caravan, 3.3L, 124k:
Last year, I had Input and Output sensors that came out bristling with metal shavings. I had the transmission flushed and filled and filter changed. The Dealership in FL (we were on vacation) said they had never seen so much debris in a transmission pan. (They were trying to sell us a transmission for $5k or a new car.) I had them just finish the job and drove away. 1500 miles later, its still shifting and running better than ever. Fluid on the dipstick looks normal with no metal bits.
Should I be expecting catastrophic failure at any moment, or should I relax?
Thanx...
...bob...

Flip a coin and you have your answer. Reason I say that is I've seen pictures of debrie from transmissions that are working perfectly yet you're looking at chunks, not shavings, of gear teeth, snap rings and other stuff you can't ID. Try pulling the sensors again and see what's there now. If they are covered again your odds just got worse. At the very least I would make sure I had a pot of money set aside for the day it dies.

5k for a reman trans? WHAT? Thats highway robbery!

As far as the rebuilt you have, Well..its been rebuilt. Take care of it as it should at maintenance. Change the fluid and gasket when needed. Keep it clean and it should help it last longer.

I know how you feel about the rebuilt and the way the shop went about trying to sell you a 5k trans.....( that's just ridiculous ) Makes you wonder...

Anyways, As long as you don't feel the transmission slipping and all, You should be ok but like Cougar said, Keep some money on the side in case of anything.
