Default 2000 Dodge Caravan Serious OBD ISSUE:

Hi all,

Not sure if this is in the right section... if not.. please move..

Issue at hand:

Check engine light is on, I am using an OBD 2 detector and getting no feedback.

Used the same detector before on same vehicle and it worked.

Cigarette lighter & power outlets are working.

Would like to know if anyone else had this same issue and came across a remedy for it.

Feedback(s) greatly appreciated.

Take it to a friends car or neighbors and try it there then you will know if it is the Obd2 sensor or your Unit. but im sure if your obd2 in the car is bad you have a bunch of issues.

Cycle the key from off to on/run (not start) three times then leave it at on/run. Read your codes off the odometer display. These are 4 digit "P" or scanner codes. If the SES light is flashing you'll have to read the codes by counting the flashes. These are two digit MIL codes. A MIL code 21 would be flash, flash, pause, flash. You'll see longer pauses between the two digit codes.

After numerous attempts... This method worked for me:

I found this out while trying several things on my 2000 van. You have to put your key in the ignition (don't turn it yet). Then push both the trip and odometer buttons and hold them in while turning the key to the first power on position (clockwise). Just enough for your odometer lights to come on. Your trip display should show miles travelled instead of the odometer distance. Then release both buttons and push the trip button once. It will display the OBD code error your have! Good Luck.

Error Codes:

23
55

now need to figure out what they mean....

ok code 23 is a cam position sensor code
and code 55 is IAC fault
these codes should be taken with a grain of salt as this method is not as accurate as your OBD2 code reader

check for any blown out fuses as to why the DLC is dead

*Update:

Here are the codes:

P0700 - Transmission Fault present
P0720 - Ouput Speed Sensor Error
P0731 - Gear Ratio Error in First
P0732 - Gear Ratio Error in Second
P1790 - Fault Imediately After a shift

Auto Mirror Sense Input Failure

Question to the techies:

1). What should I get fixed first that may help elimate my other faults?
