Only blowing warm air, guessing it might be the rear evaporator. Any suggestions? If the system is empty of freon, will it prevent the compressor from running to protect it from lack of lubricant? It does not seem like compressor is kicking on either.

Yes, if the pressures aren't correct the pressure switch won't allow the compressor to run. If the compressor fuse is good have the system serviced. If the refrigerant has leaked out make sure they install a dye so the leak can be found.

 

How many miles on the van?

 

Only 46K miles on the van, so the rear evap is covered by the warranty extension that Chrysler issues. I have heard that these commonly fail in northern climates due to road salt corrosion.
