Angry Please Help! 2007 Grand Caravan SXT 3.8 P2308

I replaced my spark plugs & wires 6 months ago on my 07 Grand Caravan SXT 3.8 because it was starting to hesitate here & there. The hesitation came back so I bought a new coil pack, Installed it & boom code P2308 came up. Frustrated on how to fix this problem I bought another coil figuring I got a bad one. Same Problem. Re-installed the original & now the code appears for it as well. ARGHHHHHHH!!!! Do you have to program the computer or something after you replace a COIL? Please help, this is the only car I can move my family in. The ignition wires are only six months old. What did I do wrong?

Welcome to DF
Did you use champion plugs and mopar wire set? Also what did you gap the plugs at when you replaced them? Here is part of a pdf file. If you need the rest, send me a pm with an email address.

I appreciate all the info. At the end it turned out to be a coil 3 driver on the computer. I picked one up online in Florida (ace). Car worked great for a day and the original code I got when I replace my plugs & o2 sensors P0420 came back. At that point I bought a cat & had it installed for $140 bucks. All that hesitating has also loosened my Ball joint on the drivers side. But as per the electrical no more codes since. Horray!!!!!!

Trying to understand more about autos--What does "cat" represent?

When you said "coil 3 driver on computer", what is meant? I understand what coil is but not driver on computer

thanks--scott

"Cat" is short for the catalytic converter. Part of the emissions system installed inline in the exhaust under your van.

"Coil 3 driver on the computer". The Powertrain Control Module (PCM/computer) supplies a constant voltage to the coil pack while the engine is running. It also contains a voltage driver circuit for each of the three coils in the coil pack that turns the ground on and off to the individual coils.

That clears most of it for me but, he said "coil 3 driver on the computer." Therefore what is he contributing to the success? Was it coil #3 or the Pcm/computer or both. I would like to reference this if anyone or myself has similar problem.

thanks---scott

The PCM (Power Control Module) is the Computer. Coil driver 3 is in the computer. The ignition coil pack consists of three coils in on piece. The coil drivers job is to break the magnetic field in the coil which will induce a high current through the spark plug wires to the spark plug. The PCM in this car has three coil drivers for the coil pack. I hope that answers your question.
