Hi Folks,
We have a 95 Caravan 3.3L that was running fine. My wife said that when she put the shifter into "park" it felt stiff and difficult to put into park. Now, when you try to start the engine, it will not crank. It is as if the power to starter was cut off. Everything else electrically works and battery is strong. I tried to jump it, just to be sure, but nothing.
I tried jiggling the shifter back and forth while turning the ignition key, and still nothing. The shifter will not move out of the park position. Is there a safety device that prevents the starter from working if the shifter is not in the proper position? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

i have a similar problem. it seems as though the solenoid is going but the stater itself just doesnt have power.
if the starter solenoid is clicking you're int he same boat.
check to make sure that there's battery voltage on the starter itself, and also check to make sure that the park/neutral switch is ok.
if you have a haynes manual it explains the process in there.
