Corroded strut Tower
Hi. Is there anyone here that lives within 100 miles of Chicago that can repair the corroded strut tower on my 18 year old daughters 1999 Caravan? She desperately needs transportation. We put it up for sale in order to purchase something else because we cannot afford to have this fixed through the dealership, and two out of two guys told me she could be killed driving this with the strut tower in this condition. My only recourse is to sell it to some unknowing person, however unlike Dodge/Chrysler Corporation, I have a conscious.

NS Strut Tower Corrosion
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves correcting a corrosion staining, surface corrosion, or corrosion
perforation condition at the top of the strut tower/s.
MODELS:
1996 - 2000 NS Town&Country/Voyager/Caravan
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Cosmetic corrosion or perforation at upper strut tower/s usually between the strut
and upper load path beam inner panel (inner fender).
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect left and right strut towers for condition. If corrosion is present, perform
one of the following repair procedures.
NOTE: ANY UNDER HOOD LABELS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT DURING THESE
REPAIRS SHOULD BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO BEGINNING REPAIRS.

I actually cannot afford to fix this correctly at a shop. I found a ditzy chick to buy it though, she didn't even look under the hood. Guess it comes down to her or my kid driving when the strut shoots out.
A good body shop should not charge more than 2-3 hundred for that repair. Some will do it for less. Ebay has the replacement steel strut tower cap that goes bad on them for about $20 each and it can be done in 1 day easily.
