Angry 3.8L Engine Removal

I need to remove a 3.8L engine from a 2001 Caravan. Is there enough room to pull this engine out the top leaving the transaxle in place? Will I need to remove the crank pulley? Where do you attach to pull it with an engine hoist? Any advice will be appreciated!!

Welcome to DF
Yes you can take the engine out thru the top and leave the transmission in the van. The best way to do this, is remove the timing chain cover and the wiper module too. You can leave the hood on the van too.

Some say they have pulled out the top. Have to remove everything to create clearance. Best advice I got was from the junkyard guy who does it every day. remove the 4 big bolts holding the sub frame to the body and raise the body enough to take it out the bottom.

there is no reason to remove the subframe, it isn't in the way going out the bottom but you have to pull the trans as a package. out the top on these vans is easy. I remove the crank pulley, accessories, wiper module, rear exhaust manifold, and things go pretty easy from there.
