Rear window wiper/BCM replacement?
Here is the diagram, the only way to really see what the bcm is reading is with a scan tool. This way you can see the input signal from the switch....if the motor spins then the motor is good, the rear wiper motor switch outputs different voltages for different speeds, this is what the bcm see's and decides what position has been chosen. If you still want to do a bcm like your mechanic told you they will need to flash that.

I've seen that diagram - it is in the service manual, and, it shows that pin 32 of the wiring harness C2 of the BCM is what conducts power to the rear wiper motor. That is the very pin that my independent mechanic "hot-wired" to prove that there was no wiring problem and also that the rear wiper motor works. There is ONLY ONE SPEED - the switch can be depressed further ONLY to engage the washer pump, which works just fine. I do not have a powerlift rear tailgate, so, I am back to trying figure out WHY THE BCM WILL NOT make power to pin 32 when it gets the signal from the indash rear wiper switch (my independent mechanic confirmed with an oscilloscope that the switch indeed sends the correct signal to the BCM).
If the BCM was never programmed to operate the rear wiper in the first place, then that would explain this malfunction (not all caravans have a rear wiper). But if the BCM had indeed been programmed to operate the rear wiper, then I have to ask HOW COULD IT FORGET THAT "LEARNED FEATURE"????
Is there a way to get someone with DODGE to address this issue? My local dealers are nitwits, and, I can't figure out how to get DODGE to pay attention to this issue.
My independent mechanic seems to be very knowledgeble - he has seen BCM's go bad before without logging any error code, but, simply replacing it solves the problem - that is probably what I'll have to do here, but, it really irks me that DODGE is so sloppy with their documentation about their BCM.
