Default Cabin filter for 04 Caravan

Hi all,

It looks like my 04 caravan does not have an air cabin filter, problem is that when we turn on the heat or ac we get a distinct mold smell which if it was my vehicle I wouldn't so much mind but it is the kid carrier and I have two with cystic fibrosis, a serious lung disease, and although no problems so far and yes I realize they breath in worse stuff just walking around or with any vehicle it would be nice to clean it up. So, can I clean this thing out? From the other posts sounds like using the disenfectants to clean out the evaporator are not that effective, any thoughts appreciated. Can I retrofit a filter assembly?

The condition is caused by the moisture created by the evaperator. Install the air inlet filter will have little effect on the condition. The cleaner sold by mopar works very well but needs to be applied every year.

I think it does have Cabin filter. In the service manual, it is called "AC air filter" though. (Service manul page 24-42). And there is a youtube video about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL-qmrBtjS4

Opps. I found mine (05 Carevan SE) actually does not have one. I checked that service manual "A dust and odor air filter is standard equipment on models equipped with the three zone temperature control systems (Fig. 1)." I only have one zone system.
