But I need to know that same question b/ now my car is having that problem.
To your question now: it is for moisture--flush sys out/ flush fluid and air compressor. Hopefully contamination will also remove itself in the process

thanks--scott

If you think you have contamination, the best way is to first figure out How Much you have. Usually you can see in the dryer holes and there will be a buttload of metal. Also you can take the old compressor, turn it upside down and see what runs out. If you do have a lot, then isolate the sytem up piece by piece and blow it out with compressed air. Hopefully this won't be the case.

A/c cold and running now--vac system. moisture gone. Boy did i have an explosion. I watched video on youtube. Man demo.s using pan of water with 134 can in it. Says it works well to get 134 in car once an a/c compressor is put in. Reason needed for pan of water, because no gas in system to turn compressor.

Sounds correct. My pan of water was too hot, I guess. Live in s. florida and wheather about 95, guess water got too hot. Bam--small hole punched out in bottom of can 134 and can flew, at least far as the service hose, holding it tightly would allow it to.

Learn from experience. That is what I did. My brother n law had add some boiling water in pan, after telling him not to.
