Default 97 grand caravan in limp mode w these codes

had camshaft position sensor and cam/baro sensor replaced early may 2011 as car was stalling out and hesitating on acceleration.

july 19, 2011: check engine light came on; computer codes read:
P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

july 20, 2011: took the vehicle to brakemasters and they got the following codes:
trans codes 49, 36, 51, 56
engine code P0700
ABS 37, 36, 34, 31, 30

and now the car is in limp mode.

it wasn't in limp mode before taking it in but P0715 seems to be precursor for the following. Any ideas?

Also anyone know of a good mechanic in tucson, az.

First thing I would check is that your charging system is in proper working order, especially your alternator. Have you replaced it recently with a reman from a discount part store?

Reason why I asked is my factory alternator died in April and I replaced it with a reman from Autozone. Just this week I was having all kinds of crazy gremlins happening. When I put the van in gear the speedometer would bounce around and peg out and I was also getting a P0700 and P0720 or something like that for the transmission, except mine was the Output Speed Sensor that was showing a code. Both the input and output sensors are fairly easy to get to but require a 1" deep socket and they costs $25 from the dealer or $17 from the parts store.

I changed both of these sensors but it did not fix my problem, come to find out my alternator had a bad rectifier and was screwing with the computer. It made the computer think the van was moving at 40MPH with it in Park! In a nutshell I would verify that your battery connections are good and the alternator and battery are healthy. If these check out OK, then I would replace the (2) sensors since they are cheap and take about 15mins to change out. Hope this helps.

There is no code 49 for the transmission, But if you replace the input sensor. That will take care of the other codes you have. 36 fault after shift, 51 gear ratio error in 1st and 56 input sensor. Then clear the codes.

OUFAN76: the alternator and battery check out fine.

MasterTech: you are correct, code 49 is not a code - handwriting of tech was illegible. it should have been code 19.

thx for the help, I will reply again after the sensors are replaced.

Default 95 Grand Caravan LE 3.3l 4 speed auto. with ac

We are having problems here

Our van goes into limp mode once it warms up. sometimes we can pull over shut it off and go but it just happens again,...other times,..as soon as we put it in drive it kicks into limp mode.

we brought it in,..had it scanned,..the mechanic says it came up " input shaft speed sensor; circuit open" and replaced the input sensor which we have already replaced several times,...

what can cause this? how can i fix it and what am i looking at for cost?

Yup, need the year. In the mean time disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes then reconnect. This will reset whatever data bus you have.

For future reference you'll get more attention if you start your own thread instead of jumping on another older thread.
