Default 2002 GC knocking sound

Hello and thanks for taking the time to help me. My GC has a knocking sound when it is put in reverse or drive and held in place. I hear the sound until about 2-3mph then it is gone. No knocking when engine is idoling, I have replaced the harmonic balancer, water pump and tensioner pulleys to no avail. Is it possible that it could be a timming chain slap? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to DF
It could be a cracked flex plate or loose torque converter bolts. Remove the inspection cover and check the 4 18mm bolts threaded in the torque converter. If they are tight, then I would start thinking about a flex plate. Yes the transmission need to be removed to replace the flex plate.

look ed bolts and they were tight. I ended up taking the serpintine belt of and noise went away. Through further investigation I found that it was the ac compressor. Thanks for the Help though.

Default 2007 caravan knock

first- I'm new to this forum, so hi there everybody.
second- I have an issue with my 2007 dodge GC. It has a knock. A hard knock. It seems to be that the noise became louder as the van got wormer. befor the knock there was a tick. The tick went away for about two weeks. the noise came back as a knock.
Please help as i have been chasing my tail on this.
Thank you in advance,

Can you isolate the area you are hearing the knock? Does it sound like upper end or lower end?

It sounds like upper. Either in the rear bank/left or the passenger side.

You must have the 2.4 ltr engine. A timing belt will cost around $30. To have it installed around $300. The 3.3 and 3.8 ltrs use a timing chain.

Question: is the timing chain kit for the 2007 3.8L the same as the 2003 3.8L I checked orielly's and Napa, both don't have one. i'm going to call an engine shop here in town and hopefully it works. I was told it might be a dealer item Any further help would be absolutely great.
