Default Loud poping noise from engine compartment

Hello wonderful forum...

It's time to work on my brother 97 caravan again, 3.3L. Well this time there is a LOUD poping noise coming from the engine compartment. We tracked it down to the spark plug blew out of the head, (The rear head)and a new one wont go back it, so I figured the threads are gone. Has anyone tackled this job? And if so, how was it, and can the head stay on the van.?? Was given a quote of appx 850.00 to do the job, ugh

You can have a helcoil install the spark plug hole. But if you go to far, then you would have to replace the head.

@ Master Tech, thank you for the info... is this something that can be done with the head still on the block, remember this is the rear head... or is just not worth the effort to attempt the repair of the back head. Pull it and move on??

You can try to repair the spark plug hole with head still on the block.
