My moms van is acting weird, its got almost 130,000 miles on it. Just had a rebuilt engine installed and were having the worst issues.

After the engine, the guy has had to replace the starter twice. And now when you start the van sometime it struggles to start like the battery is dead but then it begins to turn over.

When its idling its making this weird noise, the dude now says the alt. has a bearing going out. I cant pinpoint the sound right now, would it just be a alt bearing? I dont want to replace my moms alt and then still have the issue only to find out its the belt tensioner or idler pulley.
