Has the 4 cylinder. Forward gears all good. Am I looking at a new trans or able to fix this one? Thanks

usually this is a good indication of a bad transmission.. I suggest either rebuild it or install a rebuilt..will be more cost effective..

 

Does the van have a 3 speed transmission or a 4 speed? If the transmission is a 3 speed, remove the pan and inspect the strut for the reverse band. If the strut is missing. This will cause a no reverse, because the level can not apply the strut to the band. So it may not need an overhaul.
