Front brake rotor red hot!
OK, got an issue here.
The bottom guide pin for my right TRW brake caliper has a seal on it. When I slide the pin into the caliper, it goes in with difficulty or not at all. Even when I get it in, it ends up jamming up in the hole. Took a bit of head scratching, but it turns out the seal is riding up on the guide pin, jumping the slot it fits into and getting pinched between the pin and its hole.
When I take out the same pin from the left side and put it into the right caliper, it slides in without a problem. It's seal doesn't slip out of position.
I'm wondering if this right seal sticking is what caused the brakes to stick and heat up?
I'm also wondering if this means I have to install a new caliper on that side?
I'm going to call the parts store and see if it carries new seals, but wanted to get this question out there.
Here is a link to a photo that shows what I'm talking about:

Thanks guys, I could have gotten a set a few miles north, but had no wheels.
Then, I started worrying about the other parts of the calipers being worn so I bit the bullet and bought rebuilt calipers.
Then, since I was in there anyway, I thought I might as well replace the flexible brake line in case that was wearing out.
Then, while taking off the old flexible brake line, I twisted and broke the metal brake line it was attached to. Rude words were said. I only regret I could not think of ones truly worthy of my emotions.
Then, I spent several hours -- no way I'm going to admit how many -- snaking in a new brake line from just below the master cylinder all the way to the right front wheel.
Then, happily back in business, I loosely mounted my first brand-new caliper on the right side to check the fit and saw that the the banjo fitting wasn't lining up.
Then, I noticed the bleed screw for the caliper was on the bottom, not the top where it belonged. Damn, I thought, I have the wrong caliper on.
Then I noticed the other new caliper I had was exactly the same. AutoZone gave me two left calipers. Oh yeah, and it's closed until Monday.
So, that was my day. Van's still in the garage and I'm riding my bike to the parts store Monday on my lunch hour.
I really should have just gotten those boot kits.
