Default Back-up lights not working

I have a 2000 GC with the 3.0 and 3 speed tranny. the tranny was removed sometime ago to repair the rear seals. Just a couple months ago the back-up lights quit working, bulbs are good(replaced both) was wondering if the wire may have come off the tranny. Here's the question..does anyone know where the wire is at on the tranny? I wasn't the one who put in the seal(local garage)it's been almost a year since i had the seal fixed. A picture of where it would be will be a great help.

the switch is on the front side of the transmission down by the pan. The neutral safety switch and the backup lamp switch are the same switch. It is a 3 pin switch, the center pin is the neutral safety and the outer 2 are the backup lamp portion.

you should have power at the white wire, jump it to the violet and the lamps should come on.

thanks for the great diagram, i'll give that a try. I guess if the light doesn't come on then it's the switch

thanks a bunch Tizzy1 it worked. what I did was when I reached the switch I tried to wiggle it,but it came out(must not have been put it until it snaped) I put it in the right way and checked the lights, it worked I'll B D..lol while i did that i must have knocked the speed sensor wire off, because when my wife left for work she called me right away to tell me that that speedo isn't working anymore, well when i went back under I noticed a wire hanging that wasn't there before, so I put it back where it came from and the speedo was working again. you people in this forum sure know your stuff.
