1994 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L - Where is the Air Charge Temp Sensor? (Cold Stalling)
#12
Ok, now I replaced the PCV Valve and the Throttle Position Sensor. I also cleaned the Engine Temperature Sender/Switch (not the ECT sensor, which I already replaced). Problem persists. It's still stalling, surging, knocking on warmup, but running great cold and hot.
Other suggestions I've received:
-Replace the torque converter clutch solenoid
-Replace transmission temp sensor (Although I'm not sure my vehicle even has one of these since it's not on the wiring diagram.)

OK, Mr 22 is gone for a while it seems. Now.....let's start over. List your DTCs. Not the ones that got triggered while you were diagnosing, unhooking stuff, etc. I will read over all your posts and get back with you later.
Maybe someone else can join in too. There are many us here who can throw things out there and counterpoint each other without having to compete to see who can pee the farthest....lolz.
BTW, I am a Captain now...haha

Oh Captain, my captain!
My only code is "37" which I looked up again. On my model it means "Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid CKT" -- open or shorted condition detected in this circuit.
So which route do I take to troubleshoot this?
1. I could rebuild the solenoid pack with a $30 kit
2. I could replace the solenoid pack with a $180 part.
3. I could look for shorts and grounds with my voltmeter, especially around the connector to the pack. I'm having trouble tracking down the connector, but I'll find it.
I'm pretty sure I've got the A-413 4-speed transmission

Lets party. Ice check the connection to the lock up solenoid, Its on the outside of the transmission near the dip stick tube. Make sure its plug in. And then clear the code. If the code comes back, then the lock up solenoid needs to be replace. That means the valve body need to be removed to replace the lock up solenoid. Thats if you have a 3 speed transmission.

My Chilton manual Transmission application chart shows:
A-413 3 speed -- Caravan, Voyager
A-413 4 speed -- Caravan, Voyager, Town and Country
I've got the four speed and I always put in OD mode. I've read that some people have had less problems when driving in regular D. Somehow it makes the TCC act differently.

Transmission Control Solenoid Pack Plug
Here's the Transmission Control Solenoid Pack Plug:
And here it is unplugged:
The connection seemed good. I unplugged it, cleaned it up a bit and plugged it back in. Then I took it out for a drive. The problem seems like it is persisting, but I'll have to wait till the morning for the engine to fully cool to really compare.
