Default ac problem.

Been doing some reading on here and havent found what I was looking for. Well here goes. My sis has a 2003 van with dual heat front and back. well she has no heat or ac. well since it is getting cold out the little ones need heat. makes no noise till you turn on ac or heater then all hell breaks loose. It made a very bad squealing noise. turn of either of them and it goes away. Someone said compressor clutch. please help and thank you.

do you have heat when just putting vents with full heat?If the belt squeals when you turn the ac or defrost on then it is a locked up compressor. Provide more details please.

Ok so here is a update. I took the van out tonight and the heater works just like it should. i played with temp and fan speeds and it worked fine. It is 39 degress outside so it was hard to test the ac. I did all this on the way to the store. On the way there it squeeled with rpm speed. went inside the store and came out and on the way home didnt make a noise...
